What The Critics Say
-
"STYLE: 5. The revitalized Chaosium has been putting out some dazzling books, and this one is no exception - especially with the vivid and loving renditions of the various beasties and beings. SUBSTANCE: 5. Not just a compendium of creatures, but an indispensable companion, steeped in Gloranthan lore and thoroughly inspirational.
— Paul StJohn Mackintosh, RPGNet Review - RQ Bestiary.
-
"The Bestiary is a treasure, a masterfully illustrated and produced tome that far and away surpasses any other monster guides we have seen for Glorantha… the most definitive and comprehensive look yet at Glorantha’s non-human cast of characters to date."
— Andrew Logan Montgomery, Exploring the Otherworlds of Fiction, Magic, and Gaming.
-
"The RuneQuest: Glorantha Bestiary opens up the world of Glorantha and Dragon Pass... Its combination of background and stats, friends and foes, supports Game Master and player alike and together serve to make (it) an essential companion to RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha."
— Reviews from R’lyeh, Gloranthan Friends and Foes.

"I love [the Glorantha Bestiary's] selection of monsters. Many of them are super weird (Walktapus! Jackobears!), but they all feel like they have a place in the larger mythological ecosystem. Even conventional monsters seem fresh and exciting (see that Babylonian gargoyle). And there is something about the bronze age trappings of the world that makes things like giant bugs and dinosaurs super compelling (compared to D&D, where they get outshined by more exotic critters)."

"A must for playing games in Glorantha… The interior art is as awesome as the cover. …It is no wonder that this book, together with the two others in the RQ slipcase, won an ENnie award for Best Interior Art in 2019."
— Runeblogger, RPGNet review.

"The RuneQuest Glorantha Bestiary is not just a monstrous compendium, but a well-written tome about the things that live and breathe in Genertela. It does not restrict itself to the monsters-as-NPCs concept and provides something that few books of this type do: a vibe, a feeling about how the world of Glorantha functions."
— Antonios S., RPGNet review.

Rich and rewarding
This is not only a bestiary but also a souircebook into the rich mythology that is Glorantha.
-
Impressively detailed
This bestiary contains a lot of detailed information about the flora and fauna of Glorantha and is beautifully presented and illustrated. The only way it could be better would be to have even more pictures, but that's a minor gripe. Overall, a valuable resource.
-
A must have for monster lovers
Even if you never plan to play RQ:G (though you really should) pick this one up for the art alone. Lots of very enjoyable lore tidbits too. Of course if you are running a game this is an invaluable resource.

A Truly Fantastic Bestiary
The art in this book is worth five stars alone. There's nothing quite like a good book of monsters, and this is a good book of monsters...and lots of other cool critters besides!
