What The Critics Say
-
"Call of Cthulhu: Arkham is a triumph, achieving a near-perfect balance between providing fine detail and allowing for Keeper improvisation. It is, all at the same time, a serious game reference, a sandbox, and a source of scenario seeds too numerous to mention."
— Stygian Muse, Call of Cthulhu: Arkham.
-
"Pretty much every location here has a potential use in a campaign – whether as a target of investigation, a source of employment, a useful resource, or in some other manner... [Call of Cthulhu: Arkham] really takes Keith Herber’s vision forward by making it easier than ever to make use of this material in practice."
— Refereeing and Reflection, Supplement Supplemental! (Arkham’s Almanac).
-
"Really cool... everything you want from a setting book for Call of Cthulhu"
— Gamer’s Haunt, A Quick Look at Call of Cthulhu: Arkham.
-
"This is the gold standard for what an RPG supplement should be." “Simply put, a triumph... It perfectly captures that 1920s Americana small-town feel, while also letting all the wonderful Lovecraftian weirdness seep into every fissure and crack. This is a perfectly thought out, well-developed product that has clearly had so much love go into it. A triumph, there's no other way to put it. If you run games of Call of Cthulhu, you need this book."
— TechRaptor, Call of Cthulhu: Arkham Review - Supplemental Strangeness.
-
"A truly impressive release for Call of Cthulhu."
— Reviews from R'lyeh., Assessing Arkham.
-
Chaosium, publishers of Call of Cthulhu, have captured Arkham’s beating heart in a new supplement out now, titled, fittingly enough, Call of Cthulhu: Arkham.
— Bell of Lost Souls, Call Of Cthulhu: Arkham’ Opens The Gates To The Infamous Haunted City.
-
"If you are a Keeper for Call of Cthulhu you need to add the Arkham book immediately to your collection, by yesterday preferably… You absolutely cannot miss this supplement. Another truly high-quality book that Chaosium is known for."
— Board Game Quest, Call of Cthulhu – Arkham Supplement Review.
-
“Call of Cthulhu’s new Arkham sourcebook may be my favorite tabletop RPG book this year. It is the first in the series of re implementations of the Lovecraft Country line of books that Chaosium put out in past decades, and if this is any indication of the series will go, I am on board for all of them.”

All you need to create an Arkham based campaign
If you are going to run a 1920s campaign in Arkham, this book is well worth picking up. It contains all the material you need to set up a long running campaign supporting sandbox or linear play. You get a bunch of maps, not just of the city and neighborhoods, but also of specific buildings, key areas just outside the city and of course Miskatonic campus. Artwork is excellent and gives you a wonderful feel for the 1920s era. I also really like the character portraits for most of the key NPCs in the setting. But one of the most important elements of the book is ease of use. It is laid out so well, and allows for quick reference at the table, or via the fully linked PDF. The Arkham Directory at the beginning of Chapter 4 is an invaluable resource for players and Keeper, as it allows you to find the location you are looking for, with the Location Number and Neighborhood clearly marked, and on the PDF linked directly to the entry. This has been a huge time saver while running my online game. You also get a massive amount of scenario hooks and seeds throughout the book. The rumor table, location entries, NPC descriptions and maps all have elements the Keeper can easily flesh out into something mysterious and perilous. But the layout is such that you can easily ignore the elements you don’t want to use. I also love the sidebars that put characters, locations and events into perspective via the Lovecraft timeline. A big help if you are trying to keep to the established timeline of the stories. The only downside may be the amount of information here. It can be a bit tough to remember where you read about a specific person or item appearing in the city. The index, directory and searchable PDF are all a huge help, and the wonderful layout goes out of its way to mitigate most of issues with the sheer volume of information. But you might do well to make notes in your prep with the page number of something you find, just in case. This is a wonderfully useful book and full of information about witch-haunted Arkham. I’ve been running a campaign using this book for a few months and my players and myself are having a great time. Looking forward to more entries in the Arkham Unveiled series.

Arkham sourcebook is absolutely stupendous
Not much else to say. The detail is fantastic and it looks incredible. If you are going to set adventures in Arkham you owe it to yourself to get this book!
-
Arkham Hardcover
This may be Chaosium’s best product yet! An absolutely lovely book, fantastic artwork, plus two large paper maps and the Arkham Advertiser newspaper. So much detail of Arkham and its environs, it is a treasure house of material for Keepers to use in any campaign set in this part of America. One of the town maps is fine for players to use, the second is a Keepers-only version showing “ interesting” details. This is a must-have.

Came for the read, stayed for the game
I saw the Pickmans Model episode of Curios of Curiosities and thought I’d pick this book up just to read for entertainment. Book is so awesome its sucked me into the role-playing game now. Ordered the starter set, two-book bestiary, and tracked down the miskatonic university, dunwhich, Innsmouth, and kingport books. Only a book THAT good can ignite your imagination like that!

An essential guide for running campaigns in Arkham
This is probably one of my favourite setting books I have read for any TTRPG. Whether it is locations, NPC's or the lore and history of Arkham there is so much detail and so many things to pull from it is a gold mine for creating your own scenario's. Even if not running a game set in Arkham I would recommend this book as it has so many locations you could easily drop into another town to use in your games.

Arkham
Detailed, atmospheric and filled to the brim with possible stories. My Players love the isometric views of the various quarters.

Endless Possibilities
The production value of this treasure trove is invaluable. Call of Cthulhu Arkham Unveiled is completely fleshed out for Keepers and Players alike, but leaves enough room to add our own Hooks, Mysteries, expansive info to create our Players Horrific Experience. The art is top-notched! The map, the handouts, the paper quality and book binding shows the attention to detail throughout. I absolutely love Chaosium products, and this is one of the best.

Terrific, worth every penny!
The book brings Arkham to life even better than previous editions. Gorgeous artwork throughout - AND THE EXTRAS! I really love the Arkham Advertiser prop (keen-eyed investigators will see some great easter eggs too). I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
