Posted by Michael O'Brien on 18th Jun 2018
Some recent reviews of note of Call of Cthulhu releases by Antonios S. of RPG.Net, Pookie at Reviews from R'lyeh, and American entertainment trade journal Variety:
ALONE AGAINST THE DARK (CALL OF CTHULHU) "…a high-octane, globe-spanning adventure that promotes its relentlessness from the get go… a demanding, entertaining adventure, made even more desirable by its extremely low price."—Antonios S. Review, RPG.Net. Order Alone Against the Dark here. |
DOWN DARKER TRAILS (CALL OF CTHULHU) "Down Darker Trails is an exceptional supplement. It corrects a historical injustice by customizing a great system for an era that fits supernatural horror perfectly, and provides ample information, both crunch and fluff-wise to enjoy investigations there… The production values (are) the reference point against which other high-end products should be compared. Full colour everywhere, incredible iconography, excellent choice of old pictures and posters, gorgeous pencils on the non-coloured art, and some amazing imagery…"—Antonios S. Review, RPG.Net. "...a balanced and mature take upon the Old West with some great examples of how to twist it into the Supernatural West"—Reviews from R'lyeh. Order Down Darker Trails here. |
SCRITCH SCRATCH (CALL OF CTHULHU) And Reviews from R'lyeh also takes a look at Scritch Scratch, our Call of Cthulhu release that was released on Free RPG Day last weekend, and will be available through POD and by free download after July 1st: "a pleasingly low key one-shot of bucolic mystery and horror... the mix of weird occurrences and discoveries laying the groundwork for the Keeper to deliver some short, short shocks at the appropriate time." |
CALL OF CTHULHU THE VIDEO GAME
Finally, the American entertainment trade paper Variety reports on Call of Cthulhu the video game:
"...if Cyanide manages to capture the deeply hopeless spirit of the tabletop game in the bonds of computer code, it’s fair to say that we might have a cult classic on our hands."
Some actual game play of the game was recently demoed at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles last week. Like Variety, we really think this does show off how the video game seeks to emulate Call of Cthulhu the tabletop RPG:
