Chaosium founder Greg Stafford was named the 2025 recipient of the E. Gary Gygax Lifetime Achievement Award today.
The award, named after the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, E. Gary Gygax, and presented annually at Gary Con, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the gaming industry.
Considered one of the most innovative and influential game designers of all time, Greg Stafford (pictured left at Gen Con 2018) passed away in October 2018. Chaosium, the company he founded in 1975, turns 50 this year.
The award was presented by Gary Con CEO Luke Gygax to Chaosium's Jeff Richard on Greg's behalf. Jeff Richard said, "Short of Gary Gygax himself no one else is so worthy of that recognition. Thank you Luke Gygax and Gary Con."
