PAX Unplugged is Coming!
And the Chaosium team will be there, selling the latest Chaosium releases and answering questions at our booth (#103), and running lots of games.
We’ve got multiple sessions on offer for both Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest. As the Leaf Withers on the Vine, one of the winners of the Cult of Chaos Scenario Contest of 2017, will be making its first convention appearance!
Registration is at 10:00 AM each morning at the registration table directly outside the RPG area, on a first come, first reserved basis.

Fri 5pm-7pm, Fri 8pm-10pm, Sat 12pm-2pm, Sat 5pm-7pm, Sat 8pm-10pm, Sun 12pm-2pm What's in the Cellar? In this 1930s mystery, investigators have been asked to clear the name of their friend Arthur Blackwood, who has been charged with his wife's murder after her disappearance. Will they find her body, or something else? The is a perfect introduction to the system, all while asking players to solve the mystery before death strikes again! Sat 8pm-Midnight The Dreaming Ward SUFFERING FROM NIGHTMARES? UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL SEEKS WILLING PARTICIPANTS IN DREAM THERAPY STUDY. Successful applicants will be paid $5 a night (3 night - accommodation and meals provided) to participate in a study of their dreams, leading to possible treatment. Group therapy involved. Fri 10am-2pm Camp Sunny In the age of Instagram and Facebook, you and a group of friends set off on a spur of the moment vacation to the Great Lakes, leaving college, steady connectivity, and all your cares behind you. Fri 8pm-Midnight The Kids are Alright Montana. 1975. When a bus comes back from a school field trip, three young women are missing. Their parents follow the trip leader back into the wild at the base of the Rockies, where an archaeological site and the very woods around them may hold untold horror. Set in Modern Cthulhu. Sat 10am-2pm Weekend in the Woods 1922, New Hampshire, deep in the Green Mountains. A bus drops off a dozen Boy Scouts from Arkham, Massachusetts to enjoy the last August weekend honing their skills. But the woods hold more danger than mere bears --- and the Scouts are disappearing, one by one. Classic 1920s Cthulhu. (Call of Cthulhu 7th ed. 4-6 Players. Pre-gens provided. 4 hr duration.) |
Sat 3pm-7pm Those Within Set in the 1895 lead mining village of Ninebanks, nestled in the isolated moors of Northumberland, England. The scenario opens in the middle of the village’s annual harvest supper, during which a friend of the investigators falls deathly ill, spewing an ichorous vomit. The town drunk raves that this is a curse on the whole village, but is something else to blame? Set in Gaslight era Cthulhu. (Call of Cthulhu 7th ed. 3-6 Players. Pre-gens provided. 4 hr duration.) |
Fri 3pm-7pm Midnight Masquerade In 1932, agents in the Bureau of Investigation's Department 29 assist in an unusual prohibition bust, where the money leads back to a cult leader. Can they survive a masquerade where danger hides in plain sight? Set in 1932 Pulp Cthulhu. Only Call of Cthulhu 7th edition rule knowledge is needed. Sun 2pm-6pm As the Leaf Withers on the Vine (PAX Unplugged marks the first appearance for this scenario, one of the winners of the Cult of Chaos Scenario Contest of 2017) As members of the newly formed Secret Service, your team is sent to the Texas town of Bleeding Rock to investigate a possible counterfeiting ring following the disappearance of the last agent sent there. But there is clearly more going on in this town: healing miracles from the local pastor that defy scientific explanation. All amidst Texans who aren't too happy about the annexation of their state by the U.S twenty years ago. Set in the Old West. (Call of Cthulhu. 3-6 Players. Pre-gens provided. 4 hr duration.) |
RUNEQUEST (RuneQuest Roleplaying in Glorantha - the new edition) |
Fri 12pm-2pm, Sat 8pm-10pm, Sun 4pm-6pm Stealing the Eye Sent by your clan to steal a valuable jewel, your band hopes to be in and out before you are detected by the temple guards of Yara Aranis. You'll slip out like shadows before dawn once you've succeeded in stealing the jewel. If things go bad? You'll fight your way out! The rules for the game will be taught at the table. Sun 10am-2pm The Broken Tower When the chieftain sends a small band out to find the tribe's stolen cattle, they find more than cattle theft afoot. In the badlands at the edges of their territory, their cattle are held in ancient ruins where something otherworldly seems to dwell.
